BetSkillz is a peer-to-peer skill competition platform and community. It provides infrastructure for players to arrange, confirm, and settle the outcome of direct 1-vs-1 skill-based video game competitions between consenting adults. BetSkillz is not a gambling operator, casino, bookmaker, or betting exchange. BetSkillz never participates in any match, never acts as a counterparty, and holds no stake in any competition outcome whatsoever. The platform functions solely as a neutral community host, escrow agent, and dispute resolution service.
All competitions on BetSkillz are determined entirely by player skill. The outcome of any match is a direct result of each participant's knowledge, reflexes, strategy, and in-game performance โ not chance, luck, or randomness. Players compete directly against one another under mutually agreed rules. BetSkillz likens its model to that of a sports tournament organiser, chess club, or fantasy sports operator โ where skill, not chance, determines outcomes. Neither BetSkillz nor any automated system participates in, influences, or has any financial stake in the outcome of any competition.
You must be at least 18 years of age (or the minimum legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to create an account or participate in competitions on BetSkillz. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet these age requirements, that you are legally permitted to participate in skill-based competitions in your jurisdiction, and that you are not accessing the platform from a Restricted Jurisdiction (see Section 4). BetSkillz reserves the right to request proof of age or identity at any time.
BetSkillz is operated in Canada and is registered as a Money Services Business (MSB) with FINTRAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada). The platform is intended primarily for Canadian residents subject to applicable provincial regulations. BetSkillz is not available in jurisdictions where our services are explicitly prohibited by law, including (without limitation): United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, and Singapore where real-money skill competitions require licensing we do not currently hold. It is your responsibility to determine whether participating in a skill competition with a monetary stake is legal in your jurisdiction. Users who circumvent regional access controls will have their accounts terminated and any held funds returned subject to a compliance review.
BetSkillz is built on community trust. Every member agrees to compete honestly and in good faith. You must not use cheats, exploits, lag-switching tools, or any software that provides an unfair advantage. You must not collude with opponents to fix outcomes. You must submit accurate results within 30 minutes of match completion. You must not abuse, harass, or intimidate other community members. You must not operate multiple accounts. Violations of these community standards result in strikes, escalating to permanent ban for repeat violations.
When a competition is accepted by both players, each participant's entry stake is locked in escrow โ a neutral holding arrangement โ by BetSkillz until the competition result is confirmed. BetSkillz acts solely as escrow agent and settlement processor. Upon result confirmation, the winning player's stake is returned along with the opposing player's stake, minus a platform service fee (see Section 7). Cancelled competitions (no acceptance before expiry) are refunded in full. BetSkillz is not a counterparty and has no financial interest in which player wins.
BetSkillz deducts a single platform service fee from the total competition pot upon settlement. The fee is 1% of the total pot, hard-capped at $10 maximum โ regardless of how large the pot is. This fee is deducted from the winner's payout only. There are no fees to register, deposit, or withdraw. There are no hidden charges. Cancelled competitions are refunded in full with no fee applied.
If both players disagree on a competition outcome, either party may raise a formal dispute within 24 hours of result submission. Both parties must submit evidence (screenshot, screen recording, or verified game data link). A BetSkillz community moderator will review all submissions and issue a binding ruling, typically within 24โ48 hours. Moderator decisions are final. Repeated bad-faith disputes โ raising a dispute when you clearly lost โ will result in trust-score penalties and strikes. Funds remain in escrow throughout the entire dispute process.
BetSkillz is committed to responsible gaming. Competition entry stakes are real money and should only be amounts you are comfortable competing with. We offer voluntary deposit limits (daily, weekly, monthly) and cool-off periods accessible through your account settings. If gaming is having a negative impact on your financial or personal wellbeing, please seek support from a relevant organisation in your jurisdiction. BetSkillz reserves the right to impose account limits at any time in the interest of player welfare.
You are responsible for the security of your account credentials. Never share your password. BetSkillz will never request your password by email or chat. All content, branding, design, and software on the BetSkillz platform is owned by BetSkillz or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission. User-submitted content (result screenshots, match descriptions) remains the property of the submitting user; you grant BetSkillz a non-exclusive licence to use such content for platform operations and dispute resolution.
BetSkillz is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free platform operation. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BetSkillz's aggregate liability to any user is limited to the balance held in that user's wallet at the time of the claim. BetSkillz is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.
BetSkillz may suspend or permanently terminate any account at its discretion for violations of these Terms or community standards. In the event of termination, any pending competition stakes are forfeited. Wallet balances may be withdrawn subject to a compliance review period of up to 90 days.
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in platform operations, legal requirements, or community standards. Continued use of BetSkillz after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before taking effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to BetSkillz's operating entity. For questions about these Terms or the platform, contact: legal@betskillz.com. For support inquiries: support@betskillz.com.
