⚔️ How Challenges Work

Create a challenge

Set the game, wager amount, platform, rules, and expiry time. Your wallet is charged the wager immediately (held in escrow).

Opponent accepts

The opponent pays the same wager from their wallet. Funds are locked in escrow until the match is resolved.

Play the game

Play the game you agreed on, under the conditions set in the challenge rules.

Submit your result

Both players submit the outcome — who won, who lost. For wagers ≥ $100, a video clip is required as proof.

Result confirmed

If both players agree on the result → the winner is paid immediately. If there's a dispute → see Disputes section.

Cancelled challenges

If no one accepts before expiry, the wager is refunded in full, instantly.

🛡️ Disputes

If both players disagree on the outcome, either can raise a dispute within 24 hours of result submission. Funds remain in escrow during the entire process.

Evidence required

Screenshots, screen recordings, or game history links. The stronger your evidence, the faster resolution.

Who decides

BetSkillz admin (the creator) reviews and makes a final decision. Both parties will be notified by the decision.

Timeline

Most disputes resolved within 48 hours. Complex cases may take up to 5 business days.

Outcomes

Funds awarded to clear winner, refunded equally if inconclusive, or split based on evidence weight.

False disputes

Raising a dispute in bad faith (when you clearly lost) earns a strike. Three strikes = account ban.

⚡ Strikes System

Strikes protect the community from bad actors. Three strikes results in a permanent ban. Your trust score also drops with each strike, affecting your withdrawal speed.

Strike 1 ⚡

Warning. Trust score drops. Withdrawal hold increases.

Strike 2 ⚡⚡

Restricted. 72-hour withdrawal hold. Limited challenge access.

Strike 3 ⚡⚡⚡

Permanent ban. Remaining balance is withdrawable within 30 days.

Actions that earn strikes: refusing to pay after losing, submitting false results, raising bad-faith disputes, collusion with opponents, multi-accounting, abusive behaviour.

Platform Service Fee

BetSkillz takes a 1% fee from the total pot of every completed challenge, hard-capped at $10 maximum — no matter how large the pot. This is deducted from the winner's payout only. There are no hidden fees. Cancelled challenges are refunded in full.

Example: $100 challenge (each player puts in $100 → $200 pot) → winner receives $198. Platform keeps $2.

🪪 ID Verification

Identity verification is required before withdrawals of $1,000 CAD or more (FINTRAC regulatory requirement). All users can withdraw up to $999 without verification. KYC is powered by Shufti Pro — a secure, automated identity verification service used by financial institutions worldwide.

What to submit

A government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or national ID) and a live selfie. Accepted from any country.

How it works

Verification is automated via Shufti Pro. Your documents are processed securely and never stored on BetSkillz servers.

How long it takes

Most verifications are approved automatically within minutes. Manual review cases take up to 24 hours.

While pending

You can deposit, play, and withdraw up to $999. Larger withdrawals unlock after verification is approved.

Once approved

Full withdrawal access is unlocked permanently. A "Verified" badge appears on your profile.

❓ FAQ

Is BetSkillz gambling? +

No. BetSkillz is a peer-to-peer skill competition platform. You compete directly against a real opponent — not against the house or any randomness. Outcomes are determined by player skill alone. Think of it like a chess tournament or a sports match: two people, agreed rules, the better player wins. BetSkillz never holds a position in any match.

What if my opponent disappears after I accept? +

If a match has no result submitted within the challenge window, both players are prompted to submit. Unresolved matches after 48 hours can be raised as disputes.

Can I get a refund? +

Challenges cancelled before anyone accepts are refunded instantly. Once a challenge is accepted and the game is played, refunds are handled through the dispute process only.

How long does ID verification take? +

Usually 24–48 hours. You'll receive an in-app notification and email (if configured) once reviewed.

What currencies are supported? +

Withdrawals and deposits are in USDC (USD Coin), a USD-pegged stablecoin. Bank transfers (coming soon) will be in USD/CAD.

How is my trust score calculated? +

It starts at 50 and rises with each successfully resolved challenge (you submitted a result, both agreed). It drops with disputes filed against you or strikes received.
